About the African Swine Fever Genomics (ASFVG)
ASFVG is managed as a subproject by the Global Alliance for African swine fever(GARA). Members working on this project have the ability to change information presented here as a resource for all African swine fever researchers. As African swine fever is a large complex virus, and historically had multiple names for sometimes the same protein, it can be confusing to the ASFV research community. The goal of this project is to put all information together in one easy to use spot, that can be directly modified by GARA members. In addition, this serves to be a repository for protocols from worldwide GARA labs, with associated manuscripts using these protocols, to determine the most widely used protocols for things such as DNA isolation, NGS sequencing preparation, and general molecular and virology standards. The goal is to set a standard for specific protocols, including NGS quality, depth and variations based on NGS platforms, pathogenesis studies, and vaccine challenge model standardization. Decisions for this web resource will not be made solely by one institution, but by GARA members, in the case of a discrepancy, the Gara CoEx board will serve as the decision-making authority.
